For Palletline Member Company S & S Distribution, one of the largest established groupage operators in Kent, the last 18 months have proved that flexibility is a vital tool for success. "When the recession first hit in 2008, we countered the fall-off in business by focusing on one of our great strengths - regional distribution for major customers," explained Richard Ball. "As a result, I can honestly say that we're steaming ahead!"

The change in strategy has also influenced the company's choice of fleet vehicles. "We've just taken delivery of our first three Palletline-liveried urban trailers, which are proving a great match to our business focus, with positive benefits including increased revenues and reduced costs," says Richard. "We're also making the most of our geographical position here in the South East, linking up with French companies to provide a gateway for palletised traffic into the Palletline system."
